designed while working at s3 arch

located on a lush and verdant parcel in the suburbs, the clients here sought a modern intervention for their 1980s postmodern home - one that still carried its original finishes and peculiar charm. the task was to fully reimagine the existing structure while extending the second storey by nearly 2,500 square feet.

at the exterior, the primary challenge was resolving the home’s eccentric geometries while introducing substantial new additions. this was addressed through the use of two unifying volumes, one at each level, wrapped in a cohesive new cladding system that brings clarity and composure to the facade.

the interior strategy allowed new spaces to unfold within an open floor plan and expansive glazing that optimizes the natural surroundings. a second primary suite, playroom, office, and multiple exterior terraces expand the home’s program. the interiors palette was conceived to be clean and contemporary, animated by bespoke, sculptural elements.
